Our Ministries

Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church offers a wide variety of ministries that serves the youngest to the oldest in our community.

Missions & Service

As a means of embracing our Church mission to follow Jesus, make disciples, and transform the world, we intentionally engage in hands-on mission work and service, and missional giving impacting our community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some of our mission service engagements include, but are not limited to:

The Christian Food Pantry of Sherrills Ford - located at Hopewell Methodist Church, this mission provides food and clothing to those in need in our community.

Methodist Missional Network - A Methodist network of 13 churches serving those in our community through ministries for and with students, faculty, and staff at the Rosenwald School in Catawba.

Carolina Cross Connection - a youth mission trip that travels across NC serving those in need.

Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministries (ECCCM or E tri-C M) - an ecumenical approach to meeting the hunger, financial, and personal needs of those in our community.

Among others are U.M.A.R., the UMC Emergency Response Center (Terrell), Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, Habitat for Humanity, serving the elderly in our congregation and community, Hospice, The Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, the Boy Scouts of America, the Girls Scouts of America, and the list goes on...

Service and Volunteer Opportunities: As members the congregation, we commit ourselves to upholding the witness of the Church with our proactive service and selfless giving to those in need, simply because they are in need. There are a number of Church Ministry Teams on which you can volunteer your time and service, such as: Children & Family, Youth, Adults, Seniors, Nurture & Congregational Care, Missions, Outreach & Evangelism, Assimilation, Worship, Communications Team, Trustees, Staff/Parish, Finance, Vision Team, etc. We believe that every single person is of tremendous value in the eyes of the Lord, and all are invited to find their unique niche of serving God as a member of the greater body of Christ here at Mount Pleasant. To learn more about ways in which to volunteer, reach out to any of our staff or leadership.

"It is more blessed to give, than to receive."

Music Ministry

The music ministry at Mt. Pleasant, under the leadership of Glenda Carriker, Traditional Worship Leader and accompanied by Dawn Broom, Music Associate/Accompanist, is active and vibrant with our Chancel Choir, Bells of Praise, and Blended Worship Ensemble actively participating in worship services and at special worship services through the year.

We would love for you to consider joining our choir. We have choir practice every Wednesday night at 7:00pm. All are welcome and encouraged to participate and share your gift in song and voice. If you are a "ringer", our Bells of Praise practice on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm.

The Blended Worship Ensemble leads our blended/contemporary worship at the 8:30am worship service. Rehearsals are on Sundays at 7:30am. If you have a gift in song, or music, or voice, we would love for you to consider offering our gift for the Glory of God.

preschool

Our purpose at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church is to provide a well-balanced Christian education that will promote maximum growth and development of each child in a loving and secure Christian environment. By offering a variety of learning experiences and by laying a spiritual foundation, we hope to help each child reach his highest potential. It is our aim to encourage and support the development of Christian character traits. In this we consider ourselves partners with the parents.

We offer one of the area's most professional preschools. It was established in 1990 as ministry of the Church and provides classes for children ages two to four from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
